Charlotte Craft Beer Week continues with three great events tonight.
First up happens at Good Bottle Company with Session Beer Night. They will have 12 session beers (at least 6 from NC) under 5.5% abv to refresh your palate in the middle of Charlotte Craft Beer Week. If anyone was at last nights Lost Founder’s event, you will appreciate this lower abv lineup. Daniel Hartis of www.charlottebeer.com and author of the new book Charlotte Beer will be onsite autographing copies of the book. Also, JJ’s Redhots will have two signature dogs for you to sample and vote for your favorite. Event starts at 5pm. Beer Lineup: Birdsong Doin’ Thyme Wit (4.3% abv), NoDa Brewing Jam Session (5.1% abv), Triple C Brewing Cajun Stout (5.2% abv), Olde Mecklenburg Capt. Jack Pils (4.9% abv), Natty Greene’s Brewing Old Town Brown (4.7% abv), Olde Hickory Brewing Cloud Nine IPA (4.0% abv), Oskar Blues Mama Little Yella Pils (5.3% abv), Greenman Brewing ESB (5.5% abv), Highland Black Mocha Stout (5.0% abv), Fullsteam Brewing Carver Sweet Potato Lager (4.8% abv), Carolina Brewery Copper Line Amber (5.4%), Mystery Brewing Six Impossible Things Breakfast Stout (5.5%).
For those curious about what a “session beer” means, here is a helpful definition from Beer Advocate: “session beer: any beer that contains no higher than 5 percent ABV, featuring a balance between malt and hop characters (ingredients) and, typically, a clean finish – a combination of which creates a beer with high drinkability. The purpose of a session beer is to allow a beer drinker to have multiple beers, within a reasonable time period or session, without overwhelming the senses or reaching inappropriate levels of intoxication. (Yes, you can drink and enjoy beer without getting drunk.)”
Second event is a SweetWater Tap Takeover at World of Beer starting at 7pm. Beers on this great lineup include SweetWater 420, SweetWater LowRYEder, SweetWater Georgia Brown (Special release); SweetWater Blue, SweetWater Dank Tank-Aged BSP Quad (Special Release), and the SweetWater Dank Tank- 16th Anniversary Red Wheat Wine Ale.
Finally, Triple C Brewing Company is introducing a new beer to their line-up the 6.2 abv 3 C IPA, which is made up of Citra, Centennial and Chinook hops. Big citrus and grapefruit flavors dominate this beer while not having a harsh bitterness. Brewery opens at 5pm and Papi Queso Food Truck will be onsite.
